Cable Fault Locator Experiment Panel (P40)

The Cable Fault Locator Experiment Panel (P40) is a comprehensive tool for identifying and locating faults in cables. It features various functionalities:

  • Signal generation: Produces a 1KHz, 5Vp-p sine wave for testing.
  • Power adjustment: Variable power supply allows setting from 1.2V to 7VDC for diverse scenarios.
  • Fault detection: Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) helps visualize and locate cable faults.
  • Component selection: Includes capacitors, resistors, and BNC connectors for flexible circuit manipulation.
  • Connection options: Banana sockets and RG58 cables in various lengths enable easy connection to the cable under test.

The P40 requires an external +/-12VDC power supply to operate and offers a complete solution for cable fault troubleshooting.

List of Experiments :

  • Murray loop for ground fault and short circuit fault.
  • Varley loop for ground fault and short circuit fault.
  • Fisher loop for ground fault.
  • Open circuit fault by capacitance measurement.
  • To identify & localise cable fault by using TDR.(Time Domain Reflectometry)
